The bill would cover both paid employees and volunteers of EMS non-profits. The position of the First Responder Institute is that ALL responders deserve equal protection under the law.

Please pass the legislation that would include volunteer first responders equally with paid first responders. Volunteer first responders are very important to public safety and deserve as much public support as possible.

If there is any bill that needs to be passed, it is this one. Why does Washington have the right to deny this family their benefits they deserve, solely because he didn’t die as a firefighter or a cop? He died. In the attempt to save someone elses life. Why isn’t that enough? Rest In Peace DannyMac, I know “Oz” thinks about you everyday– keep an eye on my Medic when I cannot and guide him through heavens gates if all else fails.

Wake up, Congress!

My heart goes out to Danny’s family. It’s so sad that it takes something like this for Washington to take notice of what is going on in the streets! I hope they do the right thing and bring action for Danny and his family. Danny, I did not know you, but thank you for your service, dedication, and giving your life. I pray that your sacrifice is not in vain.

This is ridiculous. We have people risking their lives everyday to save others. This is how they’re repaid? I’m attending school to become a medic and I’d like to see this bill passed, along with Bethann getting her husbands benefits. Wake up, Washington!!!

Danny Mac, there is not a day that doesn’t go by that I don’t think of you and the things you taught me. You have taught me so much more than just from EMS, you taught me many life lessons that I will continue to carry. It is my hope that with the determination of Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick, the Senators, and of course your family, both Bethann and the girls, as well as your Public Safety family, pursues to get this act passed.
